As an old fart, I can vouch for the fact that old things become new again, and proof is found when one looks at the travel ‘retro-mania’ sweeping the world. From stays in ancient bed and breakfasts, to old travel trailer excursions and everything in between, people are going right crazy for all things old, except for me darn it. Why even old movies have been colorized to make them old new again, and where better to enjoy them with popcorn, candy, and pop than at a drive-in movie theater? And what better way to go to the drive-in than in vintage clothing found in little all-things-retro shops that seem to be popping up all over?
People Are Going Crazy For All Things Old
Now I have to admit that it all seems right peculiar to old farts like me, that in a world filled with so many modern marvels, people would be so entranced with retro things of all manner. But there ain’t no denying that they sure as heck are. However, in this old fart’s opinion the real retro-mania isn’t a thing of owning a part of the past, it’s a feeling of the heart about the past. It isn’t bout collecting, but rather recollecting, experiencing things that we used to do all over again. For some that might mean spending a week on a ranch riding the range and herding stock, and for others, it can time spent in a tiny old lake front trapper cabin working on that novel they always wanted to write. And, some enjoy visiting old diners to listen to jukeboxes and relive precious moments once spent with family and friends in the days of long, long ago.
Adventures Provide Awareness And Understanding
Fortunately there are now retro travel adventures available for all budgets and timelines, and for individuals and groups. Some of the retro adventures require a great deal of travel, and can be quite pricey – depending on personal taste and budget. Luckily there are many far less expensive choices close to home for those who take the time to look. Consider ideas like going for a flight in a vintage airplane, going for a short railway excursion, or going camping like families used to. Also consider retro marine adventures such as re-living what it was like to be a Canadian voyageur, an admiral upon the high seas, or a captain piloting a paddle wheeler up a mighty river.
River Cruises Are An Alternative For Those Who Suffer Sea Sickness
The truth is that old farts like me are absolutely fascinated by the changes that are happening in the world. So while everyone else is looking back, we strain to see even farther ahead. Now, just you all you young whipper-snappers understand the reason that so many older folks ain’t interested in retro travel adventures, it’s because for most of us, our retro travel adventures begin every time we get home and open our doors. Dang retro travel adventures!
